Lustres
Lustres are based on metallic compounds, melted in organic solvents. After the cooking, they form a very thin
layer (less than 0,1 μm).
Lustre's peculiar features are their brillance and metallic iridescent
brightness,
generated after they are applied and cooked at a variable temperature between 550° and 750°C
(1022°-1382°F). On
opaque surfaces, the lustre loses its iridescent effect and becomes opaque.
Lustres are suitable for the
decoration of glass, porcelain, terracotta and tiles.
